Scoville Heat Units (SHU):

Out of stock

The Bulgarian Carrot is a rare European pepper that grows quickly and is suitable for cooler climates. The orange peppers, which resemble carrots, grow in bunches on the plant. The Bulgarian Carrot pepper starts with a green color, followed by yellow and end up orange. The pepper’s appearance is similar to that of the Serrano pepper, only Bulgarian Carrot peppers are orange and even a bit crunchier. Its fruity flavor and colorful skin make it a popular pepper for salsas and hot sauces.

Bulgarian Carrot peppers average about 5,000 to 30,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The heat level of the Bulgarian Carrot pepper can vary greatly, as some say it is as mild as a Jalapeno pepper while others say it is as spicy as a Thai pepper. Many people list the Bulgarian Carrot pepper as one of their favorite peppers because the fruity flavor is similar to hotter peppers, like the Orange Habanero and Red Devil’s Tongue, so you get the sweet flavor without the extreme heat level. The Bulgarian Carrot pepper has a very beautiful appearance that makes it a favorite among ornamental pepper growers.

Plants are shipped in 3 inch reusable plastic pots and are approximately 4 to 6 inches tall.
