The Wenk's Yellow Hot pepper was created by Eric Wenk in the southern valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Wenk was a pepper grower who sold his peppers to local markets, and the Wenk's Yellow Hot pepper became so popular that it spread across the nation.

The pepper is related to both the Jalapeno and the Santa Fe Grande and its appearance reflects that. The Wenk's Yellow Hot pepper will ripen from light yellow to orange to red. They have a waxy appearance like Hungarian Wax and Banana peppers. The taste is tangy and the heat level is mild, making them ideal for pickling. Depending on growing conditions they have a heat level slightly above Jalapeno and are not quite as hot as the Bonanza Cayenne. The Wenk's Yellow Hot pepper plants grow to be about 3 feet tall. They average about 2,000 to 10,000 Scoville Heat Units.

At Tyler Farms, we grow our plants the old fashioned way: no pesticides, no synthetic fertilizers, and we only use all natural fertilizers like worm castings and fish emulsion.

Plants are shipped in 3 inch reusable plastic pots and are approximately 4 to 6 inches tall.
