Scoville Heat Units (SHU):
25 – 200

The Hungarian Wax pepper is very flavorful and slightly tangy-sweet with a mild heat level. They are easy to grow in a variety of climates and are typically high yielding plants. Although Hungarian Wax peppers are often confused with Banana peppers, they actually have a slightly higher heat level than Banana peppers. The Hungarian Wax pepper typically averages about 5,000 to 10,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), which is actually very similar to the Jalapeno pepper. Some of the spicier Hungarian Wax peppers can reach the heat level of the Serrano pepper.

Originally grown in Hungary, the name refers to the waxy-like texture of the pepper’s rind. Hungarian Wax peppers can grow to be about 5 to 6 inches in length, and their girth is comparable to the Fresno pepper.

I'd recommend these over banana peppers, they're sweet with a lil kick and very yummy.
