Scoville Heat Units (SHU):
30,000 - 50,000

The Zimbabwe Bird pepper was originally discovered in Africa and it's delicious flavor has resulted in the pepper becoming popular worldwide. In both Africa and Portugal the Zimbabwe Bird pepper is prized for its flavor and perfect level of spiciness. The peppers have thin skin, so they are commonly dried and then ground into powder to enhance the flavor of food.

Zimbabwe Bird pepper plants grow up to two feet and can yield a couple hundred peppers per season. Zimbabwe Bird pepper plants are easily grown in containers, making them an ideal pepper to grow on a balcony, patio or deck. They grow and ripen early and produce all season long. Zimbabwe Bird peppers average about 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville Heat Units, which is similar to a Cayenne pepper but not has hot as a Habanero pepper.
