The Yellow Flame Habanero pepper, which was created by crossing the Yellow 7 Pot and the Orange Habanero, is considered a hot pepper despite its superhot lineage. Developed at the Innovation Acre at Tyler Farms, the Yellow Flame Habanero has a fruity aroma and has a hint of citrus flavor. It is hotter than the Red Savina Habanero as it averages about 300,000 to 600,000 Scoville Heat Units. Steve Bender, who developed the new variety, wanted to create a spicier version of the Habanero that had a citrus flavor like the Yellow 7 Pot varieties. It is milder than the 7 Pot peppers, but spicier than a typical Habanero. The Yellow Flame Habanero has thin skin and starts out green, ripening to yellow at maturity. It's an excellent pepper to use for tropical hot sauces or salsas.

In recent years, Habaneros are becoming more and more mainstream as they are often thought of as the go-to pepper for those looking to spice up a meal. The recent surge in spicy fast food items, spicy chips, and spicy craft beers often list the Habanero pepper as a main ingredient. The Habanero pepper has several different color strains, including the Peach HabaneroWhite HabaneroRed Savina HabaneroHoney Fire Habanero, and Orange Habanero. The Habanero pepper was the first pepper ever grown at Tyler Farms.
