Developed by renowned pepper grower Khang Starr, the KS Starrscream Red is a cross between the KS Linzo Chocolate and KS White Thai. The peppers have a hot heat level similar to the Thai pepper; however, KS Starrscream Red peppers have a sweeter flavor than the White Thai and Purple Thai peppers. KS Starrscream peppers can be used in Thai and Asian dishes or any other dishes that use Thai peppers as a main ingredient. They can be used in hot sauces, marinades, and can be dried and turned into pepper flakes.
The peppers are about 1 inch in length and mature from green to a cherry red. The high-yielding plants produce pods that point upwards. Although it has not officially been tested on the Scoville Scale, the KS Starrscream Red has a slightly higher heat level than the Thai pepper, which averages 50,000 to 100,000 Scoville Heat Units.
