A relative of the Red Cayenne pepper, the Jimmy Nardello pepper is a fast-growing sweet pepper that starts off green and matures to red. The long, skinny peppers are ideal for frying as they can be fried whole or sliced lengthwise to expose the seeds. The Jimmy Nardello pepper is a deep and rich red and when bitten into has a sweet and fruity flavor, with hints of apple. The six to nine inch long thin peppers are a perfect pairing for cooking or adding to salads raw; making it a highly versatile pepper.
Jimmy Nardello peppers range from 0 to 100 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) as it has very little to no heat. They are relatively easy to grow, and the plant itself has a compact profile that works for smaller spaces and container gardening. It's official name is Jimmy Nardello Sweet Italian Frying Pepper.
